Thanks for joining me! Before I begin what will be posted weekly let me explain what the blog is going to be all about. I believe that comedy is one of the most underrated art forms out there and it isn’t given the credit it deserves. With that being said the past 10 or so years it has started to gain the credit it deserves. Netflix, one of the biggest streaming services out there, has really taken Stand-up under its wing and is giving a platform to so many comics that, 15 to 20 years ago, would never have a shot at. There are however negatives to that because now a days it seems like anyone can get a special. There are so many comics that I truly believe haven’t found their voice in comedy yet but are given a special just because some executive at Netflix laughed a couples times when scouting out new talent at the clubs. And that is really kind of sad if you think about it because they get the success that comics have worked years to achieve but at such an early start and they can usually only go down from there. There are so many comedians who have put in their dues throughout a long tough career that are finally getting the shot they deserve thanks to Netflix and to me that’s pretty awesome. So each week I will be posting a stand up clip from various comedians and talking about it a little.
Today’s Comedy clip is by a very funny comedian Bert Kreischer. Bert has been doing stand up since 1997 during his 6th year at Florida State. However his career didn’t take off until the end of 2016. Bert had albums out and two specials, but his career was no where near has big as it was about to be. His second special was released at the beginning of 2016 through Showtime. It unforgenetly didn’t do as well as Bert was hoping. But that was all about to change at the end of that year. In the special Bert had a closing bit about getting involved with the Russian mafia. Someone had taken the last bit and posted it on Facebook a day or two before New years eve 2016. New years day of 2017 Bert woke up to many texts from fellow Stand up colleagues asking if he had seen that his clip had gone viral. It was over a million shares on Facebook and everyone was talking about it. This helped Bert become one of the biggest names in comedy in a very quick year. It lead to him getting a deal with Netflix for a special that was released just a few months ago and it did very well. Now Bert is gearing up for theater tour which is huge for any comedian. Bert never saw himself getting out of the comedy clubs but now hes touring in places out of the country. Bert now has two very successful podcasts and is one of the biggest names in comedy right now.
